The Financial Planning Department at Hefren-Tillotson creates detailed, comprehensive financial plans for prospective and current clients to analyze their current financial situation and help advisors recommend specific actions to their clients. This entry-level position will expose the financial planner to hundreds of financial plans, learning opportunities from peers and financial advisors, and the opportunity to transition to a financial advisor or a specialized financial planner in the future.

The Financial Planner will be responsible for analyzing clients’ financial data provided by the financial advisor; building financial plans to analyze prospective clients’ retirement goals, education funding, insurance coverage, investments, estate, etc.; updating financial analyses for current clients; researching financial planning topics and analyze specific client situations for advisors; help educate financial advisors on financial planning topics and new legislation; completing the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional. This will involve self-study for multiple exams and a comprehensive exam.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, excellent attention to detail, be proficient with MS Office, strong communicational, mathematical and analytical skills, ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude, effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing and strong interpersonal skills.

This role is responsible for facilitating the integration and maintenance of technological systems across Hefren-Tillotson. The responsibilities include enhancing the current systems and continue to improve them, acquiring a full understanding of the systems and how they work together, developing and executing training for company employees, and providing on-going support and guidance to employees and clients with regards to technologies both internally and externally on the client website. This person will work closely with product managers (i.e. including systems like Salesforce, Tamarac, eMoney, Portfolio Builder and Zoom) to identify upgrades/enhancements, new features and training needs. Obtaining the CFP Designation within the first 3 years is preferred to become an Advisor in the future with Hefren-Tillotson.

A Hefren-Tillotson Financial Assistant provides support to financial advisors in a fast-paced, multi-task environment by acting as the liaison between the client and operational/administrative tasks such as:  respond to client calls; open and process new accounts; maintain and monitor account and portfolio information; research and resolve client issues and requests; organize advisors’ schedules; keep abreast of software, operational procedures, and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess an associate degree or equivalent experience; 1-2 years of brokerage experience preferred; excellent analytical, communication, and organization skills; proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
