Hefren-Tillotson Named One of Pittsburgh’s Top Workplaces for 2014

PITTSBURGH Hefren-Tillotson, Inc., one of Western Pennsylvanias largest independent investment advisory and financial planning firms, has been named Pittsburghs top mid-size company among the best workplaces in Western Pennsylvania.

The Top Workplaces list recognizes those companies that excel in leadership and planning, culture and communications, job role satisfaction, working environment, training and development, pay and benefits and overall employee satisfaction.

A survey of more than 16,000 employees at 136 companies in the Pittsburgh region to determine the results was conducted by Philadelphia-based WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading organizational employment engagement research firm.

WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with more than 30 major publishing partners and recognizes a National List of Top Workplaces. Over the past year, more than 4,500 organizations and one in every 100 employees in the U.S. have turned to WorkplaceDynamics to better understand whats on the minds of their employees.

Fleming was recognized with the mid-size company leadership award for her role in directing the 182 Hefren-Tillotson employees.

A leader has to have a good vision that other people find motivating, and a good leader has to develop respect and trust of people, said Fleming. And you do that by being open to feedback and recognizing your own limitations.

I learned years ago to help people realize how important they are. We spend a lot of time getting the right people here, and trying to let them use their skills and ideas in a good way.

In addition to providing feedback on their own companies, employees were asked how well the boss had done. Fleming received kudos in that area as well.

Kim truly understands the needs of both her employees and her clients, said one Hefren-Tillotson staff member. She is passionate about the financial industry, Pittsburgh, and the legacy of Hefren-Tillotson.
