Joseph Niesslein, CPA®

Chief Financial Officer

Joseph M. Niesslein is the Chief Financial Officer of Hefren Tillotson Inc. and Masterplan Inc., its parent company. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds the prestigious Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) accreditation designation granted to a few percentage of CPA’s nationwide by the AICPA.

Mr. Niesslein also consults with individuals in developing comprehensive financial plans and strategies to achieve their goals in the areas of investments, insurance, retirement, estate, and tax planning. He holds various Financial Advisor, Investment Advisor, and Industry Management licenses as well as the Life, Accident, and Health Insurance licenses. 

Mr. Niesslein graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1979 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He began his career with Exxon Company USA as an internal auditor in the Exploration and Production Department based in Houston Texas.  He also represented Exxon, along with other oil companies, on the Internal Audit Staff of the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company in Anchorage Alaska.

Prior to joining Hefren-Tillotson, Joe returned to Pittsburgh and practiced Certified Public Accounting. His public accounting experience included auditing Hefren-Tillotson, Inc. for over 12 years.  He has a broad base of tax preparation, planning, and consulting  experience working with a variety of business entities including sole proprietors, corporations, personal service corporations, subchapter S corporations, partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, and estate and trusts.
