T.J. McCance is a Vice President and Financial Advisor with Hefren-Tillotson, Inc. Originally joining the Hefren-Tillotson Management Team in 2013, T.J. took on the role of Director of Insurance and worked closely with clients on strategies geared toward protecting assets, planning for an extended care need, legacy planning, diversifying risk, and tax and estate planning. In 2016, T.J. transitioned back to the Financial Advisor role by establishing a formal partnership with Jim Beck and Lyric Schnur as part of the Beck Schnur McCance Group.
Through their unique expertise and experiences, and by utilizing the MASTERPLAN approach, their group strives to be a true family advisor and their mission is to be their clients’ "Most Trusted Advisor" and help each client and family to achieve their own unique financial objectives. T.J. also has a passion and specialized background in helping business owners, both large and small, work through succession planning, key employee retention strategies, and manages employer sponsored retirement plans. T.J. is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative holding his Series 7 and 66 licenses. He also holds the Life, Accident and Health, and Property and Casualty Licenses. T.J. has also attained the Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI).
Prior to his career with Hefren-Tillotson, T.J. graduated from Clarion University in 2006 with a B.S. in Management and Industrial Relations. He also completed his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Clarion University in 2008. While at Clarion, T.J. served as the President of Student Senate and was a captain of the wrestling team and a PSAC Scholar Athlete. Upon graduating in 2006, T.J. started his professional career with Burns and Burns Associates, Inc. as a Marketing Representative with a focus on business development in areas of both Property & Casualty and Life & Health. T.J. would later move on to become a Financial Advisor with LPL Financial until joining the Hefren-Tillotson team in June of 2013.
T.J. is passionate about community involvement and has volunteered in a number of capacities, including currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, Butler County Housing and Redevelopment Authorities, and The Lighthouse Foundation. He is also actively involved with his son’s youth baseball and wrestling teams as a volunteer coach and is an approved volunteer Varsity Assistant Wrestling Coach at Butler High School. “I just want be a good example for my son and try to live a life with meaning, push myself to be better, and have a positive impact on the people around me. If I can leave this world a better place after I’m gone, and teach my son to do the same, I’ll call that a successful life.”
T.J. and his wife, Halee, reside in Butler, PA with their son, Isaac.
