Applications Analyst

A Hefren-Tillotson Application Analyst is responsible for developing new and supporting existing applications that are used by Hefren-Tillotson Asset Management for financial reporting, portfolio management, and Advisor support.  The position would be part of a development team within Hefren-Tillotson’s Asset Management Group. They will develop, maintain, and provide user support for internally used applications; enhance the Asset Management team’s operational efficiencies through automation processes, database/application development, and system integration; develop system audits to ensure data integrity and accuracy; and database security, Transferring/Replicating data, Controlling privileges and Permissions.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in web and software development; have knowledge of database management and development and related methodologies; be proficient in VB, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, asp.net and C#; have familiarity with best practices to build and maintain secure applications; have financial knowledge or industry background preferred; highly organized, detail oriented; is a logical and analytical thinker, and is self-driven with unwavering integrity.

Associate Advisor

The Hefren-Tillotson Associate Advisor Program is the opportunity we offer to entrepreneurially minded individuals who are interested in entering our noble profession and becoming a financial advisor. Upon completion of the program, the new advisor will have achieved the level of competency and professionalism in the areas of: service, compliance, prospecting, financial planning, sales and marketing that we expect of our Financial Advisors. 

During this 36-60-month apprenticeship, the Associate Advisor will work side-by-side with one of our experienced Financial Advisors and immerse themselves in our MASTERPLAN® process. Additionally, the Associate Advisor will be expected to earn the Series 7, Series 66 and Certified Financial Planner designation.

Once they have achieved their licenses and designations, and with coaching from our best advisors, the Associate Advisor will be expected to begin the process of building their own practice.  Upon successful completion of the program, the new Financial Advisor will have the experience, opportunity and foundation for success that only Hefren-Tillotson can offer.

The ideal candidate will have strong PC knowledge, and a relevant college degree or equivalent work experience.  Candidates should appreciate the value of teamwork; be willing to leverage internal and external resources; be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and responsible.

Financial Advisor

A Hefren-Tillotson Financial Advisor always puts their clients first.  The ideal candidate will believe in the power of financial planning, have high ethical standards and focus on building strong personal relationships.

The ideal candidate will have strong PC knowledge; relevant college degree or equivalent work experience, at least 5 years industry experience, and a proven track record of business development.  Candidates should appreciate the value of teamwork; be willing to leverage internal and external resources; be an excellent communicator, self-motivated and responsible.  Series 7 and 66 licenses required.

Financial Assistant

A Hefren-Tillotson Financial Assistant provides support to financial advisors in a fast-paced, multi-task environment by acting as the liaison between the client and operational/administrative tasks such as:  respond to client calls; open and process new accounts; maintain and monitor account and portfolio information; research and resolve client issues and requests; organize advisors’ schedules; keep abreast of software, operational procedures, and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess an associate degree or equivalent experience; 1-2 years office experience; excellent analytical, communication, and organization skills; proficiency in MS Word and Excel; brokerage experience and Series 7 and Series 66 License a definite plus. 

Group Analyst

A Hefren-Tillotson Group Analyst works closely with advisors and team staff to support the servicing and maintenance of client portfolios. (S)he proactively assists advisors in the creation of recommended investment strategies, gathers and analyzes information during MASTERPLAN® process, and prepares and prints portfolio reviews. The Group Analyst will assist in client portfolio management through placing trades, dollar-cost-averaging, cash flow management, tactical shift implementation, and portfolio rebalancing. (S)he will also prepare investment summary reports for clients and advisors and make client calls to give advisor approved recommendations and to confirm trade instructions.

Ideal candidate will possess a college degree in finance/economics or equivalent work experience; strong computational, mathematical and analytical skills and have an understanding of portfolio theory; and personal computer, database knowledge and advanced spreadsheet concepts. (S)he will possess their Series 7 and Series 66 licenses (or obtain immediately after hire).


Jr. Research Analyst

A Hefren- Tillotson Jr. Research Analyst will work in conjunction with the Research Department and the Director of Research assisting in all aspects of portfolio management, investment analysis, and maintaining resources and files to support Hefren- Tillotson’s in-house network of Financial Advisors.  The Jr. Research Analyst will also be responsible for gathering and interpreting information on investments for Research Analysts, updating presentation material and recommended investment lists, researching investment-related questions for Financial Advisors, maintaining due diligence files, scheduling and participating in conference calls and meetings between the Research Team and fund managers.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Economics; desire to attain the CFA designation; 1-2 years of industry experience; proficiency in Bloomberg and Morningstar products; an interest in investments and portfolio management and a willingness to obtain FINRA licensing. Candidates should appreciate the value of teamwork, be an excellent communicator and have strong attention to detail.


The Trader handles all aspects of general trading for the Firm in addition to supporting Sr. Traders with Investment Advisory moves.  Responds to inquiries from sales representatives and firm personnel regarding trades, securities and administrative procedures.  Under supervision, services portfolios in accordance with objectives of investments programs.

The ideal candidate will have strong PC knowledge; relevant college degree or equivalent work experience; Series 7 and 66 licenses required; prefer at least 2 years industry experience, but may consider a strong candidate with less experience.
