James A. Beck, CFP®, is a First Vice-President and Financial Advisor with Hefren-Tillotson, Inc. who specializes in assisting his clients accumulate and preserve their personal wealth. Jim joined Hefren-Tillotson in 1986 and became a principal of the firm in April of 1989, when he moved back to his home town of Butler to become the Branch Manager of Hefren-Tillotson's Butler office. A year later, Jim became one of the first at Hefren-Tillotson to earn his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. After several years as manager and compliance officer of the Butler Office, Jim has recently stepped away from his management role to focus on servicing his growing client base.

Striving to provide Exceptional Client Service, Jim formed a partnership with Lyric McCandless Schnur. Utilizing Hefren-Tillotson's unique MASTERPLAN process, Jim and Lyric have established relationships with a variety of clients ranging from retirees to small business owners, from corporations and high-net worth individuals, to young investors just starting on their financial journey. Their mission is to be their client's "Most Trusted Advisor" and help each client to achieve their own financial objectives.

Having served on numerous charity boards in the past, Jim currently sits on the board of the Butler County Community College Foundation and he is serving a three year term on the National Board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Jim also volunteers with West Penn Golf and the Rotary Club. Strongly committed to philanthropy, Jim takes particular pleasure in helping his charitably inclined clients discover their ability to make charitable gifts as well as finding creative ways to fulfill those desires.

Jim and his wife Lynn, a CPA, live in Southern Butler County. Lynn, an avid horseperson, also volunteers at Glade Run Lutheran Services. Their other avocations include flying (Jim is a private pilot), golf, skeet shooting, and fishing.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
